
David Calhoun

Cellist David Calhoun has attracted the notice of today’s visionary musicians, including David Amram, who sums up his credentials thus: “David Calhoun is what American music needs now . . . [he has] extraordinary talents as a virtuoso soloist and ensemble expert.” His far-ranging career has included solo performances live in-concert with Liza Minnelli at Carnegie Hall, in scenes with the Martha Clarke Dance Company as both soloist and dancer, and chamber music collaborations with great violinists such as Ani Kavafian, Sydney Harth and Eric Friedman, the pianist Menahem Pressler and the Shanghai String Quartet. On the international stage Mr.Calhoun was featured as soloist with orchestra and chamber musician at the Tchaikovsky Festival in Tchaikovsky’s childhood home of Izhevsk, Russia. In the year 2000 he was honored to accept the invitation to perform a private millennial concert of solo Bach for Cardinals and clergy of the Vatican in Rome. He also has given concerts in Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, Germany, France,Canada and Mexico.
Mr. Calhoun has led a delegation of young artists to perform as soloists with the Israel Chamber Orchestra in Tel Aviv, Israel, in a concert to benefit foster homes.Mr. Calhoun was appointed principal cellist of the Space Coast Symphony in 2025 by Maestro Aaron Collins, and is principal cellist of the Brevard Symphony, the Villages Philharmonic, and The Florida Philharmonic. He has performed as principal cellist with the American Symphony at Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center, the American Ballet Theater at the Metropolitan Opera House, the New York Choral Society at Carnegie Hall, the Brooklyn Philharmonic at BAM, the American Composers Orchestra at Zankel Hall, the New York City Opera on tour, Musica Sacra at St. John the Divine, SONYC, etc. Mr. Calhoun has toured with Orpheus and with the Metropolitan Opera in Japan, and collaborates annually in chamber music concerts with members of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra at Classical Tahoe. Mr. Calhoun has performed chamber music regularly in New York’s most prestigious venues, including Bargemusic, Carnegie Weill, the Brooklyn Museum Chamber Series, the Look and Listen Festival, the Seacliff Chamber Players, at Symphony Space as soloist, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where for 15 years he was tenured in year-round residence with the Orion Piano quartet. He has been a member of the acclaimed Kinor Quartet in residence at the annual World Bank Mozart Festival in Washington, D.C. , and the Omni Ensemble.
David Calhoun has been an active performer in New York’s vibrant music scene which has included many television, movie, and radio performances. He has recorded for RCA and has performed frequently, including the Kodaly Duo and the Debussy Sonata, on live broadcasts for radio stations WQXR and WNYC in New York City. He can be heard as the cello soloist in Bill Moyers’ PBS series “The Power of Myth.” He was invited by Philip Glass to record the first solo recording of Philip’s cello concerto “Naqoyqatsi” at Looking Glass Studios. In the popular vein, he has played numerous Broadway shows in New York (Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Kiss of the Spiderwoman, Showboat to name a few) and cast recordings, and toured as solo cellist for stars such as Liza Minnelli, Rod Stewart and Willie Nelson. He has appeared several times on the Letterman Show and shows such as “One Life to Live”. A participant at the Manchester Music Festival, the Mostly Mozart Festival, the Chautauqua Festival, the Bard Festival, Waterloo Festival, Garret Lakes Festival, Summertrios, Mr. Calhoun is currently a resident artist of Classical Tahoe.His solo performance on the 2021 Naxos cd of works of John Gottsch was hailed by Gramophone as “fine solo work..committed and colourful.” “Glorious performance of the Bach Suites” Allegro Magazine 20.

Michelle Eggen

Michelle Eggen is the Orchestra Director and IB Music Instructor at Melbourne High School in Melbourne, Florida, and has served as a conductor with the Brevard Symphony Youth Orchestra since 2014. Prior to her current role, she taught chorus at Melbourne High School and provided strings instruction and consultation for several Brevard Public Schools.
During her tenure at Melbourne High School, the chorus and orchestra programs quickly doubled in size. The school’s orchestras consistently earn Superior ratings at both District and State Music Performance Assessments. Most recently, the Melbourne High Chamber Orchestra was selected to perform at the 2021 Florida Music Education Association State Conference President’s Concert and the 2022 and 2023 American String Teachers Association National Orchestra Festivals.
An active professional cellist, Mrs. Eggen performs regularly with both the Brevard Symphony Orchestra and the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra, while also maintaining a private teaching studio. She previously served as Florida Orchestra Association District Chair for District 10 and as the organization’s Ethics Chair. She is frequently sought after across the state of Florida as an adjudicator, presenter, and clinician.
Mrs. Eggen holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Music Education from Florida State University. Outside of music, she enjoys traveling, collecting Polish pottery, and spending time with her husband Nick, son William, daughter Helen, and their miniature schnauzer, Hans.

Isaac Moorman
Cello
Isaac Moorman currently serves as Assistant Principal Cellist of the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, a position he has held since 2022. He is also Principal Cellist of both the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra and the Riverside Chamber Orchestra. As a soloist, he has appeared twice with the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra, and has also performed with the Melbourne Municipal Band and the Central Florida Winds. His solo engagements include performances at both Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center. In 2019, he was awarded First Prize in Brevard’s Got Music Talent Competition in Melbourne, Florida.
In addition to his orchestral career, Isaac is an active educator. He currently serves as the teaching assistant to Professor Joseph Johnson at the Eastman School of Music, where he is pursuing his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in cello performance. He earned his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Kentucky School of Music, completing a double major in Cello Performance and Piano Performance with highest honors in just three years. He later received his Master of Music degree from Eastman, where he also served as teaching assistant to renowned cellist Guy Johnston. He has additionally earned a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance and Literature from Eastman.
Isaac has performed in masterclasses for distinguished artists including Richard Aaron, David Ying, Helga Winold, Matt Haimovitz, Gary Hoffman, Yibing Chu, and members of the Pacifica Quartet. He has participated in festivals such as the Bowdoin Summer Music Festival, the Eastman Summer Cello Workshop, and the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival. During his undergraduate studies, he worked in the cello and piano studios of Benjamin Karp and Dr. Jacob Coleman, respectively.
Most recently, Isaac was appointed Adjunct Cello Faculty at Rollins College in Orlando, Florida. In 2024, he won the Jack Heller Young Artist Competition in Tampa, Florida, performing with pianist and fellow Eastman DMA candidate Veniamin Blokh. As the competition’s winner, he received a $3,000 cash prize and will appear as featured soloist in three performances with the Tampa Bay Symphony in May 2026.

Michael Sedloff
Cello
Michael Sedloff, a native of Kenosha, Wisconsin, is an accomplished cellist and educator whose career has spanned performance, teaching, and chamber music. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire and a Master of Music degree in Cello Performance from the University of Michigan.
Prior to relocating to Florida in 1986, Mr. Sedloff was active throughout the Midwest as a performer and music educator. After his move, he devoted 31 years to teaching orchestra in the Polk County School District, where he played a central role in building and sustaining strong string programs and mentoring generations of young musicians. He retired from public school teaching in 2017.
In addition to his work in public education, Mr. Sedloff served for 35 years as an Adjunct Instructor at Florida Southern College, retiring from the faculty in 2023. During his tenure, he was deeply committed to the musical and professional development of his students.
Mr. Sedloff currently serves as Principal Cellist of the Imperial Symphony Orchestra and is a founding member of the Hollingsworth Piano Trio, with which he has performed extensively. An active freelance musician, he also maintains a private teaching studio and performs regularly with professional ensembles including the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra and the Lakeland Symphony Orchestra.
