Aaron Collins, Artistic Director & Conductor

Hailed for his electric conducting and the compelling insight of his musicianship, Aaron Collins continues to attract national attention and is one of the most outstanding American conductors working today.  An award winning composer and conductor, Mr. Collins is making his mark in the music world and is recognized for his commitment to creative artistry, innovative programming, leadership, philanthropy, and audience and community engagement. Young and dynamic, he has established himself as one of the most gifted conductors, and musicians of his  generation. Collins, a prolific composer, has written music for the stage and screen.

Collins serves as Artistic Director and Conductor of the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra.  In the past ten years, Collins has served as conductor of the Space Coast Oratorio Society, the Pegasus and Colbourn Brass, Melbourne Community Orchestra, Space Coast Brass Ensemble, Trombonanza, Brevard Symphony Youth Orchestra, Community Band of Brevard, and Artistic Advisor to other local ensembles.  Collins also guest conducts and works with ensembles in and around Florida.  In addition, he serves on the Board of Directors of several other arts-based organizations, including serving as President of the Creative Arts Foundation of Brevard.

Although Collins has a solid reputation as a conductor of the standard repertoire, he is most known for his work in new music.  He programs 20th-century and new works on virtually every program he conducts. In addition, he is an ambassador of young composers, conducting world premieres throughout the year.  Collins’ concern for music education and his recognition of the special role an orchestra can play in the community inspired the design and implementation of Symphony for Everyone program.

Collins travels extensively, conducting orchestras throughout the United States.  Some notable engagements include orchestras in Dallas, Tulsa, Grand Rapids, Lakeland, San Jose, Tampa Bay, Jacksonville, Atlanta, and Little Rock.   Collins has also been recognized for his philanthropy and leadership, as the youngest winner of the ’4 under 40’ award presented by LEAD Brevard and also as one of Space Coast Business’ Most Admired People.  In 2016, Collins won the Richard A. Stark Award for cultural leadership.  Described as “the next big thing,” “a man on fire,” “one of the most promising conductors working today,” “an absolute, powerhouse,” Collins maintains a schedule of more than 150 concerts a year.
