Two enchanting stories will come to life when your Space Coast Symphony Orchestra Strings Quartet present another installment of the popular Once Upon an Orchestra musical series for small fry.  Designed for preschool and kindergarten aged children, the 45-minute outdoor story time will feature another fun work by Vero Beach composer, R. Michael Daugherty, The Rampion Girl or the Story of Rapunzel.  Like all good fairytales, it is a story of good versus evil. There is a witch named Gothel. Her victims are a young couple forced to give up their child. The hero is a prince, and the heroine is Rapunzel, who after great adversity manage to triumph. Best of all, we can follow the story with themes for both characters and actions. The string quartet will also perform a work called GPS.  Imagine a live, off-stage voice interjecting driving directions during a performance of Mozart's Eine kleine Nachtmusik. You'll love this fun and educational ride as the string quartet follows directions to "turn right onto Viola Avenue" or "merge together and play in unison." As the trip progresses, the directions get more and more outlandish with hilarious results. Guaranteed to give everyone the ride of their life!  The program will be narrated by Space Coast Symphony Orchestra Artistic Director, Aaron T. Collins.

The musical program for children is free, with regular admission to McKee Botanical Garden. The Once Upon an Orchestra series is funded through a grant by Indian River Impact 100, an organization of women dedicated to impacting the community through transformational giving. (*Due to Covid-19, there will be no instrument petting zoo or interactive photo booth for this program).
