Artist Information

An exhilarating force in folk music, Tom Becker breathes new life into the enduring legacy of his hero, John Denver, through his acclaimed tribute show, Back Home Again. What began as a teenage admiration for Denver’s songwriting and acoustic artistry has blossomed into a lifelong mission — a heartfelt celebration of the man, the music, and the message that continues to inspire audiences around the world.

A vibrant and electrifying performer, Becker spent three years touring internationally with the legendary folk ensemble The New Christy Minstrels, a group that had once included Denver himself. Those years on the road — performing across the United States and Europe — proved to be a pivotal chapter in his artistic journey. Becker honed his craft as both a performer and songwriter, with several of his original songs becoming staples in the group’s shows. He often calls that time “one of the best musical experiences of my life,” crediting it with shaping his stage presence and deep understanding of the folk tradition.

After leaving the Minstrels, Becker moved to Nashville, where he launched a successful career as a songwriter. Among his proudest achievements, his Denver-inspired song “Sailor” was chosen as the Official Commemorative Song for the U.S. Navy Memorial dedication in Washington, D.C. Over the years, he has shared the stage and collaborated with musical greats such as Ray Charles, Jerry Jeff Walker, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Gregg Allman, broadening his artistry and cementing his place in the American folk tradition.

In Back Home Again, Becker doesn’t merely sing John Denver’s songs — he channels the spirit of an icon. His electrifying performances, often featuring his band or a full symphony orchestra, have been praised for their authenticity, masterful musicianship, and ability to capture the raw, essential energy of folk music. The show transcends nostalgia, reimagining Denver’s timeless melodies in a way that feels vibrant, relevant, and deeply moving.

Though Becker never met John Denver in person, their stories are symbolically intertwined — from their shared connection to The New Christy Minstrels to a near encounter years later, when Denver stopped by a Colorado club where Becker performed, only to find him away that night. It’s a missed connection that Becker often reflects on with reverence, one that fuels his passion to carry forward Denver’s musical and humanitarian legacy.

A portion of the proceeds from his tours supports Plant It 2020, an organization that funds worldwide tree-planting initiatives inspired by Denver’s environmental advocacy. Through this effort, Becker has helped plant thousands of trees in Denver’s name, extending his mission beyond the concert stage and into tangible acts of global stewardship.

Audiences are captivated by Becker’s blend of storytelling, musicianship, and heartfelt authenticity. His concerts weave together beloved Denver classics, his own original compositions, and the personal anecdotes that make each performance a deeply human experience. More than a tribute artist, Tom Becker is a guardian of a legacy — ensuring that the high-flying anthems, gentle reflections, and timeless messages of John Denver continue to uplift, inspire, and connect generations to come.
