The Space Coast Symphony Jazz Orchestra started with a simple idea: give jazz audiences the same bold, artistically adventurous programming the symphony gives orchestral audiences. We built it as a home for the region’s most exceptional players in a full big-band setting.
How it started

It’s grown into one of Florida’s premier jazz ensembles, featuring some of the finest jazz musicians in the Southeast — known for a polished sound, imaginative programming, and performances that thrill thousands every year. Beloved standards sit next to fresh contemporary arrangements, honoring jazz tradition while carrying it boldly into the future.

Led by Andrew Cleaver
Five conductors. One sound that keeps evolving.
Andrew Cleaver took the podium as Jazz Director in 2024 — the fifth conductor to lead the ensemble. He carries forward a legacy built by four outstanding musicians and educators before him including John Pendenza, Lee Romano, Patrick Hennessey, and Frank Wosar – each of whom shaped the sound and spirit the SCSJO plays with today.
