If you could blink your eyes and be in a favorite place right now, where would it be?

Mitchell Montgomery has been playing drum set and percussion for ten years.  Montgomery has studied with Robert McCormick and Ric Craig. Mitchell recently graduated from the University of South Florida in May 2015, double majoring in both Jazz Studies and Percussion Performance.  He completed his first two years of college at Southeastern University in Lakeland, FL.

Montgomery has performed with both SEU’s and USF’s big bands, symphonic bands, percussion ensembles, and jazz combos.  He has also performed with orchestra’s all around Florida, including the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra, Univeristy of South Florida Orchestra, Tampa Symphony Orchestra, South Shore Symphony Orchestra and Gainsville Orchestra.

 In July of 2013 and 2015, Montgomery had the privilege of performing at major jazz festivals on tour in Italy and France with the USF Jazz Ensembles.  He has performed live in concert alongside various big-named artists, such as: Michael Philip Mossman, Rufus Reid, Jack Wilkins, Whitney James, Oliver Nelson Jr., LaRue Nickelson, and the U.S. Air Force Concert Band.

Montgomery has freelanced throughout Florida performing for numerous musicals, including:  “Princess & the Pea,” “9 to 5,”  “Fiddler on the Roof,”  “The Drowsy Chaperone,”  “Whistle Down the Wind,” “Mack and Mabel,”, and “Brooklyn the Musical.”

Mitchell has been teaching private lessons for five years now and am currently teaches at Roydon Music in Brandon, FL.
