Katy’s heart belonged to animals. She ran a special place called the Rushing River Rescue Farm, a joyful and bustling home for a huge family of animals, both big and small! The farm was nestled right beside the beautiful Indian River, and the air was often filled with the happy sounds of bouncy horses, mooing cows, bleating goats, and the playful oinks of one super-funny pig named Baxter. The townspeople cherished Katy and her farm, but they were also growing concerned, knowing it was becoming a real challenge to feed so many hungry mouths.
One day, the ringing of the phone brought a very surprising piece of news. The local circus was closing down, and they asked Katy if she could possibly take in a tiny baby elephant named Ella. Ella was a sweet elephant, but her mother had been mean to her, which made Ella feel incredibly lonely and sad. The circus people were worried because Ella was so small and needed a lot of extra care. They warned Katy that Ella was quite a handful, but as Katy listened, her heart completely melted. She knew, without a doubt, that she had to help.
