Charlie Almeida began his professional career by running dances after graduating from East Providence (R.I.) High School.  Following that Almeida traveled throughout the United States playing shows and dances in major hotels and nightclubs in New York, Chicago, Las Vegas, and other cities..

Charlie enlisted in the Air Force during the Korean War and served as an instrumentalist and soloist with the Airmen of Note, the official jazz band of the U.S. Air Force.

Almeida left the Air Force and joined the Army where he was appointed a Warrant Officer, Band Master.  Almeida’s last assignment was as Associate Conductor of the U.S. Army Field Band at Washington D.C.  While in that position, Almeida created a 25 piece jazz / rock band called the Studio Band.  Later this was renamed as the Army Jazz Ambassadors.

After retiring, Charlie worked the Washington-Baltimore area as a free lance musician.  During that time he performed and recorded with the National Symphony and Baltimore Symphony orchestras.  He also played shows at the National Theater, the Kennedy Center, and Wolf Trap Farm in Washington D.C.  In Baltimore, Charlie worked in the Mechanix and Lyric Theaters.

Almeida was a regular performer for the Ice Capades and Ringling Brothers Circus.

Charlie moved to Florida in 1983 and played Broadway shows throughout the state as well as touring bands and cruise ship gigs.

Almeida currently performs with a diverse set of musical groups in the Melbourne, Florida area.
