Mom would agree that spending time with her is the best gift of all. Join a few of the Space Coast Symphony's finest for "Of Birds and Fairytales," a Mother's Day weekend concert with viola, clarinet and piano. SCSO musicians Juan Carlos Siviero on viola and Vero Beach clarinetist Jennifer Royals, team up with concert pianist Marcos Flores and soprano Terry Rockwell to present the fanciful program. Opening the concert will be Robert Schumann's light-hearted trio Märchenerzählungen (Fairy Tales) composed of rhapsodic melodies with a Viennese influence. Libby Larsen's Black Birds, Red Hills, based on six paintings by Georgia O'Keeffe, conveys the stillness of the hills and the songs of the birds. A lonely shepherdess finds hope in the coming of Spring when Terry Rockwell sings Franz Schubert's, Shepherd on the Rock. Closing the program will be selections from Romantic composer, Max Bruch's Eight Pieces for Clarinet, Viola, and Piano, full of lush melodies reminiscent of the flowering of the season. $10 tickets will be available for purchase at the door and Students 18 and under admitted free.
